10 Reasons to Choose FSJ

Our mission is to deliver exceptional French education to students of all nationalities. We’re committed to fostering an environment that encourages human values, tolerance, gender equality, equal opportunity, and intellectual curiosity. By inspiring open-mindedness and critical thinking, we empower our students to excel both academically and socially in a diverse world.

The Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE) is a public organization under the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responsible for overseeing and expanding the global network of French schools. With 580 schools across 139 countries and nearly 400,000 students—two-thirds of whom are non-French—AEFE ensures that French education remains accessible to children worldwide. From early childhood to secondary school, AEFE’s commitment to high-quality, consistent teaching and shared values makes this network the largest and most unique of its kind, fostering French language and culture across the globe.

With 321 million French speakers worldwide, French is the official language of 88 countries and the 5th most spoken language globally. It’s also the 4th most-used language on the internet and is spoken by 144 million learners around the world. Our team of native French-speaking teachers, all certified by the French Ministry of Education, are dedicated to providing the highest quality education. Trained to meet the needs of international students, they are passionate about fostering the success and development of each student. Already, students from 45 different nationalities have placed their trust in our world-class teaching.

At FSJ, we offer a dynamic bilingual French-English program from kindergarten to high school, set in a welcoming, multicultural environment that feels like family. In today’s globalized world, fluency in multiple languages is key to success—and we’re here to help your child become a true global citizen.

Our students have the unique opportunity to master not just two, but three modern languages. Starting in grade 7, with an enhanced curriculum they can choose a third language, earning prestigious certifications along the way:

IELTS and Cambridge for English

YCT and HSK for Mandarin

Cervantes for Spanish

Goethe for German

UKBI for bahasa indonesia

This multilingual journey doesn’t just build language skills—it fosters respect, tolerance, and an appreciation for diversity, preparing students to thrive in an interconnected world.

Adapting to a new language and environment can be challenging, which is why we offer a dedicated French Language for Foreigners (FLE) class as part of our curriculum. Taught by certified, professional FLE instructors, this program is designed to support students from the very basics, helping them gradually transition into regular French lessons.

Our goal is to ensure that non-French-speaking students can not only keep up in class but also feel confident communicating with their French-speaking peers. With our FLE program, students gain the language skills they need to integrate smoothly, build friendships, and excel academically in a French-speaking environment.

Student well-being and safety are our top priorities. That’s why we have a dedicated “Vie Scolaire” team of 7 professionals, ensuring that every aspect of student care is managed with attention and care throughout their time at school.

We also recognize the important role nutrition plays in a child’s development. Our school canteen offers a catering service that features fresh, organic meals prepared à la minute. Each day, students can explore new flavors and choose between a Western or Eastern menu, carefully curated in consultation with parents. Our commitment to student welfare extends beyond the classroom, with active participation of the parents in the School Education Board, Hygiene and Safety Committee, and Anti-Bullying Committee.

For years, we’ve maintained a 100% success rate in the high school exam. Our ambitious approach opens the door to the best French schools and universities, many of which are ranked among the world’s top institutions by the Financial Times and Shanghai Rankings. As a result, our alumni have successfully entered prestigious French universities and beyond.

The French Baccalaureate is globally recognized for its rigor, especially by English-speaking universities, offering students significant academic opportunities. With our new French Baccalaureate International (BFI) program, students will have even more chances to gain acceptance into the world’s top universities. Our alumni don’t just thrive in France—they continue their studies across Europe, North America, Australia, China, and even Singapore.

At FSJ, we believe that engaging in sports, arts, and cultural activities is key to students’ well-being and personal growth. These experiences nurture creativity, enhance critical thinking, and allow students to explore and develop their talents and passions. With over 40 after-school activities, students have the freedom to dive into what excites them, whether it’s painting in the arts room, playing an instrument in the music room, or engaging in sports in our top-notch facilities.

A unique advantage for our school community is that families can enjoy access to these facilities on weekends and during holidays, fostering a true sense of belonging and togetherness. All activities are led by qualified instructors, making extracurricular engagement not only enjoyable but also a key part of our school’s educational strength and philosophy.

Located in South Jakarta, FSJ is surrounded by a variety of restaurants, cafes, malls, and hospitals, offering convenience and accessibility. Our school is situated in a peaceful residential neighborhood, just a short walk from the MRT Cipete Raya station. As one of the only European schools in Jakarta, FSJ operates under the supervision of the French Embassy and is supported by a dedicated security team. In collaboration with local police, we ensure both the safety of our students and smooth traffic flow during school hours.

Why the French Baccalauréate?

All great universities need diversity. Because it is in diversity, in the debate of ideas, in the confrontation of cultures and know-how that the best ideas are born. It is because Yale or Harvard or Stanford need students to be capable of creating, innovating, thinking, contradicting, doubting, challenging.

These universities, like all the others, will seek varied profiles. Students who speak a third language perfectly. Students who have studied philosophy, history and literature even though they are scientists. Students who are wise and know how to articulate a reasoning. In this sense, students preparing for the French baccalaureate have every chance of accessing the leading European and American schools, which all recognize the quality of this diploma.

There are now hundreds of French students in the most prestigious American schools. They were able to access them because their background and their training are different. Because the worst mistake would be to try to be like everyone else. The French education system and the baccalaureate give them the chance to be seen and appreciated at their true value.

Much more than a school, we're a family

At the French School Jakarta, we are convinced that the educational offer proposed to families must include personalized support for each student in the development of his or her training path and study project.

Parent's voice

« The teachers are highly qualified, they know about psychology. Also, there’s an approach to behaving in society, what’s not nice, your manners, and eating well. We don’t teach that in schools in our country. This is a good chance to learn, full immersion to learn another language. And I like the consistency that the school has to education. »

« The advantages of French School are the language, the good education, and the networking. I want to apply the same things to my daughter where she can express herself without limit and has the opportunity to study or to work everywhere in the world while bringing the cultures that she learned during her time at the school. »

We’re proud to be part of a vast cooperative network, which aims to promote the French language as a language of freedom and culture, while opening up to the culture of the host country and to high-potential international languages.

We offer students an ambitious academic path and quality teaching from kindergarten to high school, and prepare your children for the Baccalaureate exams with a European-English section.
